Helps Ward off Scale Creep

Apple cider vinegar? The key to keeping off those ever-creeping pounds?? You betcha! In one study, consuming just two tablespoons per day of apple cider vinegar over 12 weeks resulted in nearly 4lbs of weight loss with no other modifications to diet or lifestyle. Studies show that apple cider vinegar may also increase satiety, which can help reduce intake of calories and amp up weight loss. In fact, one study showed that drinking apple cider vinegar actually decreased total caloric intake by up to 275 calories over the course of the day.

Improves Your Skin

Want that Kardashian glow to go along with that Kardashian bod? Just try some apple cider vinegar as part of your diet! Apple cider vinegar doesn’t just affect your internal health – it has also been shown to treat acne! Certain strains of bacteria can contribute to the development of acne and vinegar is well-known for its antibacterial properties. Apple cider vinegar is also known to contain specific components like acetic acid, lactic acid, succinic acid, and citric acid – all of which have been shown to inhibit the growth of Propionibacterium acnesthe specific strain of bacteria actually responsible for causing acne.

Helps Regulate Blood Sugar Levels

The ability of apple cider vinegar to help maintain normal blood sugar is one of its most well-studied benefits. A study published in Diabetes Care looked at men and women with type 2 diabetes. The researchers found that when the participants downed two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar before bed with a snack (an ounce of cheese), they had lower blood sugar levels the next morning, compared to when they ate the same bedtime snack paired with two tablespoons of water. Another study showed that vinegar consumption was found to decrease blood sugar levels by an average of 31% after eating white bread. And finally, an animal study showed that giving diabetic rats apple cider vinegar for four weeks was found to significantly reduce blood sugar levels.

Lowers Cholesterol

We’ve all heard the dangers of cholesterol. This fat-like substance can build up in your arteries, harden, and put a serious strain on your heart. But maybe not if you’re swigging away on some apple cider vinegar! Apple cider vinegar can promote heart health by helping to keep cholesterol levels low. An animal study out of Iran showed that supplementing rats with apple cider vinegar was able to reduce bad LDL cholesterol while also increasing beneficial HDL cholesterol.

Reduces Blood Pressure

Not only does apple cider vinegar lower your cholesterol but it helps to reduce your blood pressure as well! One animal study out of Japan showed that giving rats acetic acid (the fancy science-y term for vinegar) resulted in reduced levels of blood pressure. Another animal study had similar findings, demonstrating that vinegar effectively blocked the actions of a specific enzyme that raises blood sugar.

So cheers!!! To Apple Cider Vinegar!
